Celebration in the Park held on the fourth Saturday in July is the high point of summer for many neighbors. Sponsored by the Northside Chamber of Commerce, it’s a combination of food, games, music, health fair, arts and crafts and more.

Like Pumpkinfest in October, the event brings together various kinds of organizations as collaborators, including:

• East Allegheny Community Council

• Allegheny Center Alliance Church

• Allegheny General Hospital

• Mercy Behavioral Health

• The Pittsburgh Childrens Museum

For 2009 there will be no Celebration in the Park. Sorry. Look for it again in 2010.

In the meantime, enjoy all of the activities in the park:

• walking and biking

• kayaking in Lake Elizabeth

• farmers and flea markets

• swimming at Sue Murray Pool

• exotic birds at the National Aviary

• beautiful flower beds

• historic points of interest

• ballfields and basketball and tennis courts

• a dog run in West Commons
