Historic Deutschtown hosts the nationally recognized Main Street program This program provides staffing, through the Northside Leadership Conference, and technical assistance to Historic Deutschtown businesses and those interested in establishing a business.

Historic Deutschtown’s residential area is host to Pennsylvania’s Elm Street program which brings resources for residential development and organizational capacity building to the residents of Historic Deutschtown. Staff member, Joey-Linn Ulrich, works with residents to promote various programs, including a Façade Improvement Program where residents can apply for a grant to improve the outside of their home.

Both programs receive support and are funded through the Urban Redevelopment Authority, Pittsburgh Partnership for Neighborhood Development and Pennsylvania’s Downtown Center and the Department of Community and Economic Development.
